I’ve used Zong EDGE (Unlimited/month) service for couple of months in lahore.

They lied about two things:
1. It wasn’t “EDGE” at all, it was GPRS.
2. Pakage price they used to tell was 400.Rs but actually they charged 480.Rs, 80.Rs might be extra tax for the service.

Internet speed was 420Kbps which means the downloading speed should be 25Kb/s and thats the way it was and the avarage speed i used to recive was 20Kb/s.

In the earlier days of my service i realised that almost three times in a week it hangs up for a long duration (2-3 hrs), no “GPRS” service at all and i used to blame Zong for that but later i found out that it was due to my mobile connection with PC, restarting both devices (mobile n PC) fixed this prob.

I’ve used this service on Windows & MAC through my Nokia Mobile Manager, after tweaking few settings i was able to use it with both bluetooth and cable.

Conclusion, I think Zong internet service is pretty good for 480.Rs specially if you want to watch Youtube clips on your mobile then its a beauty, no buffering at all, its like watching movie clips which are saved on your MMC.

Zong offical speed

1 – (5-6) kbps /s
2 – blocking images
3 – broken service sometimes
4 – gprs is a old technology so dont blame the operators.
5 – edge is not available in pakistan
6 – gprs maximun speed can be up tp 10 only

I AM USING ZONG INTERNET FROM MY MOBILE NOKIA N70 THROUGH USB .AND THE SPEED IS PRETTY MUCH AMAZING CONNECTION CONNECTED AT 460MBPS AND THE DOWNLOAD SPEED IS MAXIMUM 25KBPS .I THINK ZONG IS GIVING GOOD SPEED IN AFFORDABLE PRICE.

I ALSO USED TELENOR INTERNET IN MY PC ITS ALSO GIVING THE SAME SPEED BUT FRIENDZ SINCE THERE IS NO INTERNET PACKAGE TELENOR OFFERING IT WILL BE REALLY EXPENSIVE.

AND GUYZ ONE THING I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT IF U R GETTING SLOW SPEED OR ANYTHING ELSE THAN CHECK UR CONNECTION SIGNAL STRENGHT N ANOTHER REASON WILL BE THAT THE NETWORK NO SUPPORTING EDGE IN YOUR AREA.

WHEN I CHECKED THE PROBLEM CAME OUT WAS THAT HE WAS USING WINDOWS XP SP1 IN HIS PC N U GUYZ KNOW THAT SP HAVE BUILTIN USB DRIVERS VERSION 1.0 AND 1.0 VERSION ONLY SUPPORT MAXIMUM 115 MBPS DATA SO THAT WAS THE REAL REASON N THE SOLUTION I JUST UPDATE THE PC DRIVERS TO VERSION 2.0 N IT WORK NICEEEEEEEEEEEE. AFTER THAT WHEN MY FRIEND CONNECTED THE INTERNET IT CONNECTED WITH THE SPEED OF 460MBPS N THE DOWNLOADS SPEED WAS MAX 20KBPS – 25 KBPS .

N ALSO IF U R HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH EDGE USB FIRST CHECK ALL THE ABOVE ISSUE’S MAY BE U FIGURE OUT WHAT THE REAL PROBLEM IS .
