this is gud company but u have to take lower call rates then other networks near about 1 rupee per minute on other networks and updats your coverag this is good sign may hope you will growth your networks and makes lower price of your users thanks

DON’T subscribe to ZONG monthly GPRS package if you wanna download something valuable.

The speed is good, but the bastard staff won’t let you grab anything from RAPIDSHARE or MEGAUPLOAD and will often interrupt your downloads (specially in the night) to fulfill their own f u c k i n g desires (may be, they are keep collecting porno things all the time).

Moreover, they are keep resetting their SERVERS frequently (usually, in every 6-8 hours).

If you do complain, their asshole CROs will consider you a ‘chootiya’.

I have been a victim for the whole shitty month, and now looking for other service providers…

Please keep in mind, GPRS/EDGE is not a substitute of DSL or 3G. and specially if matter comes for PC/notebook. If some body is getting normal speed on PC through GPRS/EDGE, its blessing because GPRS/EDGE target market is not PC. Its target market is only Mobile/PDA’s.

As far speed and disconnection is concerned then in available resources ( all telecom companies) the best is ZONG. either its speed, reliability or money. But keep in mind I’m comparing for Mobiles data services only. If you want high speed connection for PC then WiMAX technology is superior than DSL in present time. It is not dependent on any fixed line modes for data transmission.

So, Its on you. You can’t find best Quality and Best Price at same time. Its commonsense that either you will get best quality at high rate or best price with compromised quality.

In short, ZONG is going well for GPRS/EDGE and Wateen for Broadband (WiMAX Technology) i.e. Maximum 27 Mb/seconds…and we have to wait for 3G ( If ever come to Pakistan)… on 3G, you can get speed of 7.5 Mega Bytes per Second (As I’m using).

To Shayan Javed:
The disconnection time was less than 2 minutes both the times. And please let me inform to you that today still there is NO disconnection at all although it is Sunday holiday. ZONG gprs is still connected from last 4 hours 55 minutes without any disconnection.
I was using JAZZ Mobilink since last 4 years but not satisfied with their gprs rates (highest rates as compared to others) without EDGE. But now, ZONG has solved all my internet related problems.

Mr.Usman your views are admitable, But they were of importance if you not mentioned the Dc time. Many users who use internet can’t afford the disconnection. If i say about myself, I use warid unlimited gprs plan. And there are many applications running in the background which need internet access, So I can’t bear a single disconnection, and thats the thing what i like about Warid. I have a laptop and its on nearly for 1- 2 days. I have alot of work to do on it. So during this long connection time, not even a single disconnection and no difference in speed.

And lastly…………….if you want reliability, Mobilink and Warid are on the Top. There’s no match of their GPRS network.

I am using ZONG unlimited gprs package for last 15 days in Karachi and I am very satisfied with it because it is about 3 times faster than my dial up connection. Personally, I HATE POSTPAID connection and ZONG is the only PREPAID service who has UNLIMITED gprs package in Pakistan till now. ZONG had deducted 460 rupees from my balance and activated the package in just 8 minutes.

I am using it on my PC (Windows XP SP2) with modem connection of my Samsung E200 mobile through USB cable. These are the accurate results that I got while using unlimited package on PC in peak hours with EDGE connection (8:30pm Saturday):

File transfer rate (average) in peak hours : 5 to 8 KiloBytes/ Sec
1010KB PDF file downloaded in 150.07 seconds ( transfer rate is 6.73 KB/sec)
293 KB MP4 ringtone downloaded in 45.50 seconds (transfer rate : 6.44 KB/sec)

I admit that during these tests, internet was disconnected two times. But speed and reliability is much better than any dial up connection. While PTCL V wireless data transfer rate is also same as ZONG in peak hours (5—8 KB/sec) as told by my friend.

I am posting this comments through ZONG EDGE connection from my PC.

Hi everyone!
I am using Warid Unlimited GPRS Data Plan.
The speed i get is 6-8 kbps. I am quite comfortable with it. And as previously it was said that its not the rates matter, its the reliability and quality. I was also a bit shocked by the rates of zong unlimited gprs, but after the reviews i got, i am quite easy now. That zong will not last for long unless it becomes quality oriented rather price conscious.

If Anybody interested in using the ZONG GPRS through a computer can use these settings. To my experience ZONG GPRS works very well, and gave me a data transfer rate starting from 55kbps and came down till 14kbps on a Nokia 9300.

Modem Properties -> Advanced->

Extra Initialization Commands:
AT CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”zonginternet”

Advanced Port Settings:
Use FIFO, Select the checkbox and take the sliders to the full.

Change Default Preference:
Port Speed: Max
Compression: Disabled
Flow Control: None

Dial Number: *99***1# Username/Password: Null

I also endorse that Zong GPRS is far better than Telenor and Ufone. Telenor EDGE works good but as you know edge service is not available every where. ZOng have no problem right now. Can’t say about future because, as customers will increase load on GPRS ll also increase and all will be effected then.

its average downloading speed at the day time is 0 bytes – 4 kb p/s
its average downloading speed at night after 1 AM is : 8 kb p/s – 12 kb p/s

customer support is a complete disaster. you can dial their customer support only 5 times for a day. and if the guy is a “topi” then, he wont pick ur call up and after 5 tries, you’ve to wait for another day.

I think, or according to the my point of view the zong has done a good work initially in the Pakistan but it has to improve.

Specially the coverage….

I know that some have the problems about the coverages but you have to face it because of the new company not as new because it is Paktel initially but it has to improve itself
